CHE awards and grants

Following the bequest from Derek Oyston, CHE instituted a series of Film Awards and Acheivement Awards in his name. We also sponsored LGBT History Month events, and made some other grants.

Derek Oyston Achievement Awards

The Derek Oyston Acheivement Award was presented twice: in 2009 to Sue Sanders, and in 2011 to Michael Brown. More about the Achievement Awards.

Derek Oyston Film Awards

The Derek Oyston Film Awards were presented in association with the London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival for five years running, from 2009 to 2013. More about the Film Awards.

LGBT History Month

For several years, CHE sponsored the pre-launches held in November as a prelude to the LGBT History Month events in the following February.

We also sponsored a series of Allan Horsfall Memorial lectures in February / March in successive years.

Other awards and grants

CHE made a number of one-off awards and grants, including £10,000 to the Peter Tatchell Foundation in 2017.
